Welcome to ABPO
As the foremost Probation staff association, ABPO has a leading role in promoting equal opportunity and valuing diversity within the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), the Probation Service and the wider community.
ABPO is a Black staff association which works to support staff and reduce crime in the Black community. ABPO’s definition of Black is a political one which emphasises the common experiences and common determination of people of African, African-Caribbean and Asian origin to oppose the effects of racism.
We aim to achieve this by:
- Reducing crime and disorder in our neighborhoods
- Providing a premium service to victims and witnesses of crime
- Supporting and mentoring Black businesses
- Ensuring crime is punished
- Professional, motivated and valued members serving their community
- Breaking the cycle – Helping offenders out of a life of crime
We actively work with other agencies to help meet this aims and engage, and support, Black community groups whenever possible.
Our overall aim is to increase public confidence in the Criminal Justice System (CJS) within Black communities nationally AND To engage and motivate ABPO members.
